Reprogramming the Wordpad firmware

The Wordpad USB receiver and each of the Wordpad handsets contains a small piece of software referred to as it's firmware.

Usually a teacher would not have to worry about the firmware, but if there is a fault with the system, or if you are upgrading from Wordwall v2 to v3, you may have need to reprogram the firmware.

To do this, follow these steps. The overall process can be completed in under 5 minutes.

1 - Start the Wordwall software

2 - Insert the Wordpad USB receiver

3 - Select 'Wordpad Firmware Update' from the Help menu

4 - You will see a screen telling you are about the update the receiver firmware, ensure it is correctly inserted and then press OK

5 - Once the receiver has completed, you will see a screen asking you to switch on all handsets. As you switch on each Wordpad a red icon will appear if it needs reprogramming and a green icon will appear if it is already up-to-date. Switch on all Wordpads in the set and wait until you see a green icon for every handsets.

6 - When finished, click on 'Done'. It's recommended that you remove the hardware and restart Wordwall before continuing.

In the event that you are having problems with this process or if you believe you have a hardware fault rather than out-of-date firmware, then don't hesitate to contact us.
