The icon displays the state of the system. If its greyed out, the receiver is disconnected. If its flashing, its in the process of starting up. If its solid black, the receiver is connected and ready-to-go.
This will switch off all handsets and the receiver. If handsets are switched on after this is selected, they will go back to sleep after a few seconds.
This will switch the receiver back on after pressing 'Sleep'. Handsets will then be able to successfully join the game again.
This will switch off all handsets and clear the list of registered players. You'd use this command if you wanted to run a session with a new group of students, but without needing to restart the software.
This is the default. In this mode handsets are represented by numbers alone. The order of numbering reflects the order in which handsets were switched on.
In this mode the student may enter a forename and surname combination into their own handset. It's a simple system with no verification.
In this mode the teacher must first paste a list of names into the 'List to pick names from' tab. The students will then be presented with a search box. They must type their name or part of their name into this box. They are then presented with one or more names to select from.
This display gives you a list of every handset that is connected to the system. It also displays the handset ID number and the name of student.
Pressing the small icon in the top left of each item (the block symbol), will kick that handset from the system and prevent it from re-joining until the icon is toggled back.
